Summary: It was an unforgettable experience climbing Mount Kinabalu! We were very fortunate to have mostly clear weather during our ascent — just a few short showers here and there, but overall, it was dry and pleasant. Our guide was incredibly helpful, patient, and encouraging throughout the climb. He even doubled up as our porter since there weren’t enough available that day — mad respect to him for carrying a 10kg load up the mountain! He also took great photos for us and guided me carefully when the terrain got tricky near the summit. A few tips for future climbers: Bring a fleece jacket or something warm — the temperature near the summit can get really cold. If you’re prone to altitude sickness, consider taking preventive pills and walk in a zigzag pattern to ease the symptoms. Hiking poles are a great help for balance and support, especially on the descent. Overall, it was a manageable yet rewarding climb — an experience I’ll never forget!
